Experimenting with Zero waste pattern cutting

FARRAH FLOYD studio is an anti-seasonal sustainable luxury brand for women’s wear designed and produced in Berlin. As a design assistant I helped develop the new collection L.I.ELSEWHERE  SS '16 with primary responsibility of research and design process including visual identity, design & prototyping.

Investigation and sourcing of sustainable materials was a big part of my work with a framework of e.g. organic textiles preferable produced in Europe or recycled fibers.

The idea around the system, designer and founder Bojana Draca developed is that every pattern piece is a rectangle of different dimensions all fitting together in a grid across the entire width of the fabric minimizing waste in the cutting process.

When working with the zero waste sustainable method pre-consumer textile waste hereby cut-offs are almost down to zero percentage.
