Merging the human senses into an interactive and edible garment

"What do you remember from earlier experiences, smells and sounds that occured 10 years, 1 year or 2 days ago?"

V.T.H.S.T.  stands for the five human senses Vision, Touch, Hearing, Smell and Taste and explores the idea of how people interact with an exhibited object at museums and how this interaction can become activated through the senses.

The surface patterns on the velvet trousers are designed to represent the "luggage" of memories a person gains and carries through life filled with feelings. These are enhanced by the sound of music through a wearable mp3 player (arduino) attached to the trouser’s pocket, transfomring the garment into an interactive electronic object for the visitor to enjoy.

The material used for the top is an edible vegan leather I produced through endless experimentations with various combinations of fruit waste. It gives the visitor an experience fused with smells and tastes when tasting the samples of fruit leather at the exhibition space.

The pattern designed for the top is based on the zero waste pattern cutting method eliminating cut-off waste. The concept hereby explores and reflects upon the emerge of futuristic materials and usage of wearable tech in fashion, focusing on stimulating the five senses. The garments were exhibited at the Round Tower Copenhagen during the exhibition Fabrications 2017.

Materials: Fruit leather, velvet

Techniques: Analogue silk screen print, reactive dyes, wearable mp3 player, Arduino program
